Anybody have a good fix for mildew / mould odour from AC use. Not that I wanna be picky, but I am not talking about spraying mould killer either. How do I stop it from happening in the first place? Since it has already happened how do I clean it out?

Change the cabin filter. Likely source of odor.

been there, done that. It seems the odour is coming from within the vent system. I bet it is the cooling coil but I am hoping that someone with experience can shed some light on the stinky AC.

Go to your friendly Ford dealer and buy a bottle of a/c system deodorizer. You can pull your blower motor out in 2 minutes and reach up in the housing and squirt the deodorizer on the evaporator core. You wait like 15 minutes then run your a/c for like 15 minutes with the windows down and you not in the car. It kills the mildew and leaves a fresh scent for your pleasure.

one more thing, look under your car and make sure your evaporator drain is working and the water is dripping out like it's supposed to.

Mildew killer available in Pep Boys and other fine auto parts stores. They don't always have it in stock. Popular item around here since there is so much AC. After doing this you can prevent this in the future by venting the AC before shutting the car down for the day. When you get about a block from your house, or work, turn the AC to vent and the fan on high. This will blow the water out and help dry the system. Mine has never had this odor. My wife forgets to do this and her AC stinks everytime on start up. Even her 03 Tribute has started to get a little rare....

Also, never leave the selector in the OFF or MAC AC positions, since these do not let fresh air in (and wet moldy air out) of the ducts. I know my Expedition owner's manual states this, but I haven't checked the 'Tour manual.
