Well I don't have an SVT yet, or even a contour, but I'm working on it. I've found a 1998 contour with 62000 miles in great condition. It will need new tires in like 5000 miles though. The dealership wants 12,900 for it. I just wondered if that's high, good, a bargain.. etc.

Are you kidding me? Is it an SVT? I just sold a 98 SVT with 48K miles and an extended warranty for $12K.. I know someone else who bought a 98 SVT with 69,000 miles and bad tires for $10,900.. Keep looking. Try the classifieds on here.

I think that figure is way high. We just got a 99 SE Sport with 44k and with new tires and a few fixes it was only around 9k, check out Kelly Blue Book or NADA used car pricing to see what the value should be

For that price, it better be a SVT. I got my 98 SE in November, it had 56k, mint condition, power evrything, and new tires for $7400.
98 contour SE 2.5L MTX resonator removed, sho shop cold air intake, arospeed muffler, painted center ring with grill insert, painted interior pieces, clear side markers, debadged and dingless.

Would you guys quit talking down the resale of our cars. That's just bad business! The CSVT is a great car. No, a really great car. That's why most of us owners bought one. The car has tremendous value, bang for the buck. There's no unique reason why they should be trading below book value. A 50K 98 SVT if its a 98.5 I'd go as high as $13K as low as $11.5K of course if it was in good condition. Why should it be less? In SVT Barge's case, that's not bad, I'd try and get some new tires or bring it down a few hundred to 12,200 or there about.
98.5 SVT Black/Blue As Thomas Jefferson was fond of saying, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." If you're driving 60 in the left lane do us all a favor, GTFOOTW..

I bought 98 SVT with 46000miles, some scratch on rear bumper for $12000 about 3weeks ago. i think i paid bit too high but there were not many CSVT available locally.

IF that price includes an extended warranty and some extra features (Like VIN etching, etc) I'd say it's a great price, especially if it's in great condition. Also, how is the interior? That leather had better be pristine :p
If you buy this car, you better post some pics!

I haven't tried any negotiations yet... what would you suggest I start the haggling out at?
Thanks for any help.

if you're serious about this car start out at 11k with the intention of settling around 12k. start out low just like the dealers start out high. and get new tires out of him, that's a must.
