I just hooked up my 300w Jensen amp and my 2 10" Advent subs but I'm not getting any sound from the subs.. I know the subs are fine because I had them hooked up to my home stereo. I get power to the amp when I attach the power lead wire but the subs don't make noise. I have the ground and power wires hooked up and they're both 8 guage so I don't think the wire size is a problem. All the connections are good, I checked them several times each. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Also when I hook up the input wires I get a buzzing noise on my front and rear speakers in my car.

are the rca's ran with the power wires, that could be the cause of the buzzing

Did you hook up the turn-on lead?

The buzzing is most likely caused by a bad ground or running the patch cables too close to the power wire. Also, turn your gain down.

Joe, I can take a look at it tomorrow, if you'd like. I get home from work at about 5:30. PM me your address and I'll stop by about about 6 or so.

Yes, but did you hook up a remote turn-on lead? You've made no mention of it when discussing your cables. The amp needs the following:

1 - unswitched power source from battery (your 8 GA cable)
2 - ground (GA should match power cable
3 - remote turn-on lead (switched power source from head unit, tells the amp when to turn on)
4 - signal (your patch cables)
5 - connection to speakers that are being amplified

Well I got it to work..Instead of having my subs hooked up to 'output' on the amp I hooked the subs up to the 'bridge' part of my amp. thanks for the replies
