I can get diamon plate metal for a good price. Does anyone know how bendable it is and if making my own floor mats would be feasible? Or do these sorta have to be manufactured? I'm thinking about doing my rear where the seat was with the diamon plate. Though somebody suggested I get my windows tinted first.

If you really want some, let me know how much you want. I see a 4 piece floor mat set cost $130. I could do it for a good bit less than that, IF the metal is bendable/cuttable by the average person. I'll look into this and maybe make a few sets if it works out and sell them.

It depends what material the plate is made of.
There is steel diamond plate and aluminum diamond plate.

Steel obviously is harder to bend & cut.

I have a 3'x4' sheet of aluminum diamond plate, that i hack up and do stuff with.
Its really easy to cut. "If" you have a good pair of snips, and "if" you have strong muscle type arms you can cut threw it.

But any metal cutting tool will work on aluminum.
Ive used, Sawzall, Die Grinder with cutoff, Dremel with metal rotozip bit, snips.. Its easy

It's 1/8" thick steel. What do you think about cutting it. I can also get thicker steel if I wanted but don't think I want to.

Well if I find out if it's easy enough to cut and bend, then I'll see what I can do. Maybe you can hook me up with some carpet, I'll hook you up with some diamond plate.

if it's not stainless steel, it's going to rust unless you get it plated, powder coated or painted. if it is stainless steel, it will be much tougher to cut/bend than common steel.

contours, deloreans & fiats, oh my!

I dunno...it would look pretty good in this 'tour

Are you making these similar to the ones on ebay??? I just wondered if you realize that those, in particular, were made from chromed rubber. BTW, I believe someone on there sells the material so you can custom cut your own...as far a real metal, I'd worry about hacking up your ankles on the stuff unless you can figure out a way to bend & crimp the edges under. Of course Kremit, since you are looking for ways to cut back on weight, how about cutting your entire floor out & replace it w/ lightweight polished aluminum(it can be done w/ a little structural support & $$$)? Good luck anyhow ...$.02
