So I bring my car in for rough running (which ends up being plug wires, which I bought somewhere else and replaced myself cause they wanted $300 w/labour). But anyways I go to pick up my car, and what do I find but a nice big long gouge in the RF fender. So I go back to the dealer and they all to quickly say they'll fix it but never actually apologize for it, just tell me to come back tomorrow and they'll take a look at it and fix it. So I go there today and the body shop guy is a jerk and he treated me like crap, so I grudgingly make an appt for next week.
Now here's my choices, I could 1)get it fixed by the dealer, and hope that they don't do a half-ass job. 2)go through my insurance who I called and they said that I could get my car fixed wherever, and they would go after the dealer to fix it. The only problem with this one is that I will never be able to bring my car there again cause this will piss them off. So it just means that I have to find a different shop.
So what do you guys think, what should I do, I'm leaning towards going through insurance.

Would you even consider taking your car back there? If not, #2.

#2 definitely.
If they disrespected your car enough to damage it, not tell you about it, not apologize for the damage and then treat you like doggy-doo in the bodyshop then that dealership should never get any of your business again.
I'd post the dealers name here too....and send the dealers's gen.mgr a note telling him his crappy dealer is all over the web.

A clearly written, matter of fact business letter to the owner with a copy to the district service manager would be appropriate at a minimum. And, as others have stated, don't give this dealer any more of your business.

I agree w/ everyone else - #2 is obviously the choice. What better way to get even than have that shop pay someone else to work on your car? Poetic justice at its finest

Why would you even want to bring your car back there after, 1) they messed your car up, and 2) the guy who's supposed to fix it acted like a prick???
I wouldn't give them another penny after that. Definately option 2.

1)get it fixed by the dealer, and hope that they don't do a half-ass job. Well If they do a Half-ass job take it back till its done right. that's what I would do.

Get a couple of estimates for the repair, then go back to the dealer and tell then you want a check to cover the cost of the repair at ANOTHER body shop. Also tell them that others at the dealership grufly offered to repair it, but you were treated so badly you don't trust them, thats why you want a third party to do the repairs. Why use your insurance to cover this?
Don't mess around with the little guys. Find out who runs the place and talk to them. If it had happened to them, they would be made as hell. Why shouldn't you be, and why shouldn't he/she understand that?
To cover it with your own insurance it to PREVENT accountability where it is needed. Accidents happen folks, but when dealerships are unable to own up to this fact and make it right is unacceptable.
In summary:
1. Your dealership damaged my car. 2. Your dealership refuses to own up to it, but suspiciously agrees to do the required repair. 3. When you spoke to the body shop guy, he treated you like crap. You have no confidence that he gives a damn about the quality of the work he does. 4. Combination of 2 and 3 means dealership has no ownership in making things right for you. 5. Would "Mr/Mrs Big" tolerate this kind of crap? 6. Have estimates ready and demand that it be paid.
Good Luck
