my car idles @500 RPM's almost all the time, it feels like it's gonna stall, i changed plugs, wires, and coil pack. K&N filter and K&N oil filter, and removed resonator. What could it be, i shoulda taken care of it a while ago but it sat at home while i was at school and i never fixed it, OH and another thing, it does it and vibrates just a little bit when i'm at idle and turn on the air on any speed setting. I skimed through some of the threads but couldn't come up with too much, i am kinda pressed for time so, could you guys tell me what you think it is? thanks

no i haven't done the TH fix but i thought that was just for the moosing and random revs that the engine does. i'll try it this week and see if it does it, what size hole gets drilled in? hopefully this will work.

Sounds like a simple clean and/or replace of the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve may solve your problem.

I take mine off, douse it with some TB cleaner, followed by a liberal spray of silicone lubricant, & re-install.

As far as the vibration, you should feel a vibration for just an second when the A/C compressor clutch engages. Its just a slight drain on the engine & a proper IAC valve will adjust to it in just a few seconds.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

If that doesn;t work then it may be your IAC.....also, my car after the throttle hang idles at 750 rpms no problems.

If your car is already idling low the TH fix may make it worse. It may be your idle air control is shot.

well yeah it's in the Contique family, it's a 98 SVT E0, with 52,987.3 miles and it's an MTX tranny, removed resonator, K&N oil and air filter, painted interior trim (silver),BFGoodrich KDW 215/50/16 tires. Hyper white headlights, Ford Indiglo badge in the grille that's hooked up to the driverside headlight, 20" neo-blue streetglow neon tube mounted to roof inside of the car, a hologram SVT sticker on the back window that changes about 4 or 5 different colors. there's a few scratches on the bottom of the driver and passenger side of the bumper from some curb rash, and i have 4 blue Ford Racing seat belt pads in the car. i think that's about it. Oh and i went to MI to buy the car from a guy who worked at Ford. Or, since i forgot to post what year and make of my car you coulda clicked on my name and went to the profile which woulda taken about 13 seconds, but i'm not blaiming you, i know i forgot to put it, my mistake.

ok, the car idles just below 750 RPM's,just enough to make it have a slight vibration, other than that, it's dippin around the 500RPM mark when preparing to stop or just starting the car up. Can i get this IAC thing from anywhere? or does it have to be from ford? Is it that little plastic thing that sits on the screw, or the whole unit? Is it hard to replace, that's the main worry.
