I've finally gotten my Mtx thunder 6000 10", and Mtx thunder 2160 and will be installing them soon. I've ran an extensive search in the audio, and car audio archives and still have a few questions I need answered.
1. My biggest concern is the ground wire. I have no Idea how its supposed to be connected or where it should be. I hear a very important connection and want to be sure its right. I looked behind the tail light and see three screws with nuts on them and was wondering if that would be a good spot to connect the wire. If you had time could someone post a pic of their ground connection so I'll know what its supposed to look like.
2. I also want to know how the battery connection should be done. I'm not sure how you're supposed to connect it. I dont have my wiring kit yet so when I get it, it might be obvious, but could someone tell me, and maybe show me what it should look like. Dont need help getting past the firewall, there were enough posts explaining that.
3. I want my wire concealed, and I think I will be running them under the step trim, by the door. Does that come off easily? and is it easy to get behind the rear seat. I have a 97 Gl Contour so my seats dont fold down, but I think it shoud be easy enough to just shove the wire through near the bottom.
4. My 2 ch. amp has 2 Rca spots, one red and one white. I'm guessing they are for the left and right speaker in the front, but since I'm bridging mine which do I use to send the sub signal to my hu, (kenwood kdc-x569).
5. How should I mount the amp as well, I dont want to have it moving around. I think the sub will be alright since it is heavy and I might have to move it to get better bass, but I dont want the amp moving and messing up my connections. Should I just screw it into some of the carpet in the trunk? Again pics would really be helpful.
6. If anyone has time, I would love it if you wrote a simple how to with pics. If you do I think dave should make it a sticky becuase many people post about amp installs.
