My "check engine" is ON into my dash.

I have the code reader for Ford (my car, Contour 1995 4Cyl 2L, OBD1 & EEC-IV.

I've made the procedure with KeyOn, Engine Off, my code for this is 57.

In the book, 57 mean : Octane adjust circuit grounded. AXOD neutral pressure swith (NPS) circuit fault; circuit open

After that, i've try the KeyOn, EngineRunning, the only code I have is 2.

2 mean problem with cylinder #2, but I don't know if the procedure for the KO-ER made correct.

But for the code 57, (the Octane adjust circuit grounded & AXOD neutral pressure swith (NPS) circuit fault; circuit open) mean?

And be good to me, explain in a "baby language" because my english is not very good...

I don't know much about it as I am not familiar with eec-iv all that well.

I konw the octane adjust circuit is a little gray jumper plug on the 95's near the ignition coils that allows the pcm to ramp up the timing if no detonation is present. If you pull the plug you take away the pcm's ability to ramp up the timing. This is how it was explained to me. My only guess is your neutral pressure switch has a fault and its causing the pcm to stop advancing the timing for some reason.
Try examining the switch first.
Sorry I can't help, someone who knows whats up my come on here.

If your Check Engine Light is on and your car still runs normally, it is NOT URGENT. See your owner's manual. Does your car run okay?

You have, at some point, incorrectly performed the code reading.

All codes on your EEC-IV computer should be THREE digit codes. 1993 was the last Ford model year that could have had two digit codes. The 1995 Contour uses three.

Start over and see if you can get valid codes.

Yes my car run okay.... but problem only when i'm in 1st gear

I explain (hard but i will try)

When I start from the 1st, or when i'm in 2nd, sometime like 1 of 10, it's like the motor get no power like a fraction of second... remember it's LIKE... not for real.

Other way to explain, it's like when you release the clutch dramaticly fast when at the 1st gear AND NOT give some gas... when you are at a STOP sign, you are in 1st gear, release the brake and the clutch but not pressing the gas pedal, your car will stall.

it's a "simulation" to give you approx what I get... otherwise, the 9 or 10 my car run good.

And when I start my car, the RPM go high, but normaly after 1/2 sec the rpm go down to normal, like 900rpm idle.

But most of time, with my "check engine" light on, the RPM don't drop to 900 (approx, because I don't have a rpm, but sound like) and keep to 1500-1700 for 3 or 4 seconds... and that only 2 or 3 times in a row (start the car, RPM HIGH... go to R, back-up to exit my parking place, after I press the clutch, RPM go high again, and NEVER go high again @ IDLE until my NEXT engine start)

For my code, I've got 2 sequences of code

The first i've got 111, that mean all system is ok between the computer and the code reader

After that, I got BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP PAUSE BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP BIP = 57

Nothing else.

i've repeat the procedure twice, alway's the same result.
