Hey everyone. Thanks for your help in the past. My electrical problems have a cause! Yippee! It's a bad battery cable. Damn! How much is this going to cost me? I plan on getting this fixed during Memorial Day or the following Tuesday, so immediate help would be appreciated. I need to know two things:

1. How much should this cost me?
2. Where should I go to have it done? Is Ford the only place that can do this work?

What year Contour do you have? If it's a 95-97, there's a wiring harness recall for it. It'll change those cable for free!

I believe the wiring harness recalls a different part than the battery cable. Sorry. If you've got a v-6, I believe the positive cable lists for $130, and it's about an hour or less to replace... Watch out, your dealer will probably charge you more labor because of the time it took them to diagnose the problem... This can easily tack on a couple more hours to the bill.....

Hey thanks. I just checked, and I've had the heater blower / wiring harness recall work already performed.

In light of this, I checked out my ESP Warranty from Ford (gotta love that acronym), they say the wiring harness is covered. Does the + lead cable included in the wiring harness?
In case you haven't noticed, I really don't want to pay for this repair.

Mike
