I had the "kit" installed on my badly-warped dash last summer (they said they had to use a heat gun to "melt" the dash down so they could install the kit). The kit is holding the dash down ok by the windshield, but now the front of the dash is starting to pull away from the instrument cluster. I don't see any long-term solution to this mess, considering Ford's reluctance to spend money on "orphan" cars.... (BTW, there could be a problem with a fiberglas dash, since the dash has to meet DOT/NHTSA crash/crush standards.)

How muchis the kit if you had to buy it. Right now no one will warranty it because my VIN does not have the recall.

Mine was done under warranty, so I don't know what the kit costs. Sorry.

Yes it is, I would be a little more aggressive with the Ford dealer and see where it gets you. Or go to another Ford dealer and explain what's happening. Most service shops just charge back to Ford so they don't care who pays the bills. It's just when Ford won't pay that they get a little hinky. But Ford SHOULD replace it again, so yea, I'd scream a little and see what happens.

Don't be afraid to call Ford Motor Co. and raise holy hell, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. I guarantee if you [censored] loud enough and long enough to enough people someone will do something. You may end up getting nothing but that's pretty much what you have now *nothing*. Call everyone, over and over, and over until someone either says "LEAVE ME ALONE' or "OK we'll fix it". Can't hurt, may help, you certainly won't get anyone calling you offering to pay for anything. Good luck !

I went to ford today, they said that it has been more than 12months sence they fixed the dash ,so they are not going to fix it. I also got the part # (1522 5404282 DA) the kit is $76.75. All the kit is , is a strip of sheet metal that bolts the dash down to hold it in place. You have to remove the dash to do it, I am going to cut the sheet metal and do it myself. I need to replace my windsheld so I will do them both at the same time. I'll let you guys know how it comes out

Can anyone send me the PDF file for the TSB to apply the dashboard fix kit?

I'd like to use it to get a price quote from the the local auto interior custom shop. The fellow there says they routinely fix dashboards from which the cover has come loose by squirting in urethane and then maintaining pressure with sandbags. He didn't know anything about Contours or Mystiques specifically, or the fix kits for them. I'd rather pay them than a Ford or Mercury dealer.
