I was wondering how easy it is to get rid of the orange reflector on a PRE-98 tour, i know there is a lot of sanding, but what else is really involved with it?

A lot involved. If somebody is willing to do it for me, I'll pay you.

nyceboy smells money...

I'll do it! Like in November when I have time.

Most of the time it just pops right off when you open it. Just heat it up on the outside and open up the assembly - most of the ppl that have done it it's come off easily. I havn't done it to my pre98 yet..can't be that bad. My SVT lights took about 2 hours I think but totally different set up. The pre98s should clock in right about there.

Nope Nyceboi. Not even close.

On the Pre-98s, the Orange and Clear were molded as one piece, meaning that there is no 'popping out'.

You have to be incredibly precise in your dremeling and dremel out the orange part while maintaining a clear and smooth surface on the back of the clear, which is really thin, and it's not really possible to tell how deep you've gone.

Not easy at all, which is why only there's only been 2 or 3 successful attempts at it, and a few not-so-successful attempts.

Sigma, you pretty much said what I was going to add. I too tried heating it up, then tried prying it while hot, and all that did was bend up the actual lense. And the dremeling is a biatch, mine would have been sucessful, but I accidentally messed up the end when taking off the lense. Good thing I got a test lense.

been there, done that. failed miserably! like sigma said, it doesnt pop out, its actually injected molded as one piece. bust out the grinder or dremel cuz the only your gonna get clear corners is if you sand down all the way through the amber lense and hopefully dont go too far to the clear lense.
