Had my car in yesterday for various minor items, including my on-again, off-again problem with the throttle rising when I lift off, idle sticking at 1300 RPM, etc.

Many dealer visits last year to try to correct this, and was finally solved by replacing the throttle body in late August. Just recently, the car has started to do this again, so when it was in yesterday, as part of the tune-up, they cleaned the TB, so I'm hoping that may solve it again.

Anyway...the point of this post is that the service advisor told me there is now a TSB from Ford on this complaint, and the "cure" is supposedly to "re-load" the PCM. I didnt ask for clarification, and I should have, but it sounds like they wipe it clean, and then re-load the factory settings --- something like a re-format on your home computer.

Has anyone ever heard of this TSB?

sounds like this TSB invloves disconnecting the battery for a few minutes... if thet're just reloading the same program that's there, they're just clearing the "learned" behaviour which you can clear yourself in about 5 minutes. Once you car "learns" it's idle and calibrations, you'll be right back where you started. Some TSB.

No

They are reflashing the computer with new programming to correct the problem.

Disconnecting the battery only clears the memory of the saved parameters thet the computer has learned.
