Yes, it had some other problems before. It stalled and won't start right back up a few times before, I thought it was related to the wiring harness recall. But I just got the car back from having the recall done last Saturday. Maybe the dealership put something on wrong, maybe it's something else I'm not sure... It's also different this time, the car has no electrical power at all except for brake lights, interior lights, power locks, power mirrors, and dash clock. Headlights doesn't work neither. The aftermarket alarm I got doesn't respond to the remote.

I went to a few dealers today looking for cars. Looking mostly for another pre-98 SE, new Cougars, or SVT. I found none... The closest I got was at one SVT dealership, the salesperson told me that a guy with a Silver Frost SVT might consider trading his in. I can't really think of another car that I can get for less than $15k, manual, 6+ cylinders (or rotary laugh ), handles good, and accelerate quick.

I don't have SuperChip. But now you brought it up, it makes me wonder if the previous owner had it installed. I never checked it when I got the car. I'd still do the 3L/SVT swap I had planned, but with electrical problem like this, I'm not sure if it'll still have problem even after the swap. Think about this, all this crap happens 5 days after I got the car back from the dealer for the wiring harness recall!

Check the blue fuses (rectange with a clear top) in your power block next to you battery. It sounds an awful lot like the problem that I had with my car last winter. Ended up being a $2.50 fuse.

I would suspect the recall, perhaps they left something uncovered? I blew this fuse up directly after I fried a wire. The car was running when the wire fried (it was under the wiper cowl), we drove it to my friend's shop and put it in the garage. A few hours later when I went to leave, I had nothing. frown Hotwired it and it drove home without a problem. smile

I went to the dealer again to see if there's a SuperChip I don't know about on the PCM. Nothing... I wiggled the PCM around a little, but nothing changed.

ExDelayed, when you had that problem did you lost all electrical power? Did you have door chimes or anything? Mine lost everything except some interior lights, and power options.

While you're waiting for response; it would appear that f9 20amp matches the description, identified as PCM in the fuse tabulation. This fuse is feed to contact of PCM relay which in turn feeds vital engine functions (eg fuel injectors)

Sounds like a loss of main power to your key systems?

Try to tap on/around battery fuse box & also look for spread fuse terminals in inside fuse box where someone may have piggy-backed an accessory at some previous time.

Check tightness where positive (+) battery cable attaches to underhood fuse box.

Also, next time you drive down road, notice what makes/models of cars broken down on the side of the road...;-)

Last but not least...I heard Ford backwards is Driver Returns On Foot...
