are there any shortcuts for the haynes manual way to take off the exhaust manifolds? i dont' want any dust getting into the cylinder walls when i optimize them..

I already have the ypipe off, and i'm going to clean the intakes. so its not much more work is it? (haynes manual says to take off the right side wheel??)

Some of the bolts are biatch to get to. Taking off the Rt. wheel will make some of bolts more accessible.

wobble extensions also help a LOT. I took out the alt. bolts and slid it back too. Remember to disconnect batery!

ok, i just finished taking the intakes off and cleaning them. and my ypipe is already off too, so i think i might as well take off my precats and clear em out. but how do i go about getting at them? the haynes manual doesn't say how to get at them, do i have to go from underneath?

also i just moved the fuel rail w/ injectors out of the way when i took the LIM off, i don't know if that was right but i couldn't understand the how-to.

It's a lot easier if you disconnect the fuel lines and remove the fuel rail from the car to give you a little better "purchase" on grabbing the injectors. They are a bear to pull out but you just have to keep twisting and pulling until you get them loose (you will have sore hands and fingers by the time you're finished). You gotta get them out about 3/16" or so to release the nose o-ring from its bore. It took me several minutes, each, to get them disassembled. Prying on them is pretty much of a no-no since you could easily crack the plastic on the injector. Re-installing the oil-lubricated new ones in is a breeze, however.

yeah my hands are sore haha, i just finished getting them out and those 'quick release' fuel lines were a pain also since the 'X' tool is junk.

should i clean the injectors? and if so how?
