I love the site and all the stuff on it! But does anyone know the history of it? Who runs it and how are they paying for their hosting?

there's a link on the site where you can read up on the history of it.
as far as funding, I'm pretty sure most of their merchandise sales go towards the website.
Why don't you send them an email and find out?
they're pretty good at answering emails.
They use a yahoo account.

Here is the best interview I've read with the guys. It pretty much covers everything. Matt and Mike Chapman run it, and they were able to quit their jobs because the merchandise was selling so well. All the history is in the interview too, as well as what frenchblue said.

And this site has all the info on the emails. There was another site, www.the-coolest-stuff-ever.com that had a ton of great info too, but when I got back from my honeymoon at the end of May, it was just gone.

Hey Tubs, I just lost my jengajam. Your ghetto pass has been revoked. You're no longer an honorary brother.

Matt: Yeah. Itâ??s funny because when weâ??re dicking around recording stuff, itâ??s hard to not make Strong Sad swear all the time. Iâ??d do a little of it for you, but I have a sore throat right now. Heâ??s the only voice I canâ??t do right now. So, the temptation is definitely there, but we probably wouldnâ??t do anything with it.

So this is why there haven't been Strong Bad e-mails in the past three weeks. I have been glued to HSR.com waiting for new ones!

Ah. Yesterday when I checked, the new one was not uploaded yet. And I haven't seen the Ballad yet either.
