Well finally i went for the inspection and passed  They said that having the side back windows is ok as long as you have mirrors on the side, but the said the very back window has to be legal but since they didnt have their tint measures that they would pass it, the tint reading on the backs came out to be 3.5% i didnt realize it was that dark. Funny thing is they didnt even hook the car up for and emissions test, when i looked on the print out it said N/A under emissions, i thought this very strange but left as fast as i could, sure enough once i hit the highway the CEL came back on, good ole CEL  MAtt

It may be different in CT, but in MA the emissions is only done every other year. You are required to have a Safety inspection every year.

did you see the report last night that the EPA was getting paid off by MA officials to show false statistics on a reduction in overall emissions in order to get more funding from the feds for the Big Dig?

right now in CT there are no immisions testing. they don;t evern inspect vehicles that are over tens years old now. They don't even inspect newer cars.
The only thing they checked was the VIN for the Contour we just got. Since it was from NH, and all out of state cars they do a VIN check and you can regester the car. Of course they check tint

wait when did ct start tint inspecting at emissions? mine was never done. when i bought my car it had tint and needed emissions inspections cuz i bought it in ny. and i believe they lied about the rear tint. the back window can be anything. it can be 1% if that dark is even made. technically the rear doors need to be at least 35 also, same as front. most will focus on front two doors. i just got caught in a stop check. i immediately rolled down my window (duh) and started talking to be nice. trooper immediately told me to roll up the windows. asked if they were legal. i said i thought so and pulled out the stereo shop receipt showing the front 2 were 35 and rears were 20. he pondered it a bit still checking out the car. gave me crap about me being able to get a certified tint sticker from the state. i played dumb like i never heard of that. he let me go there were people waiting behind me on the onramp

Well i actually had the car inspected in MA, thats where all my plates and what not are from.
I was told that the side back doors could e as dark as possible as long as you had side mirrors, but the rear window had to be 35% but they didnt have anyway to measure the tint on the rear so they let me pass...
Is there any site that has exact rules for tint?
