First:
1998, made inadvertent shift from 2nd to 1st during '97 autox event. Speedo needle started to oscillate and make ticking noise with speed (as noted in previous postings from others). Replaced cable (when it broke) All seemed fine. After a few thousand street miles, the speedo is beginning to oscillate again. Any thoughts?

2nd:
How long does the original clutch last?
have >103,000 miles and 3 years worth of SCCA autox events.

Try lubricating the speedo cable. Disconnect it from the back of the speedo and pull the inner cable out and slather it in grease and reinstall it. If it is from the cable, this may be all that it needs. It is also possible that the speedo itself is starting to wear, but that is uncommon on Contiques.

I've got 109k on my original clutch and I'm starting to wonder the same--but I've never autox'd (I do drive fairly hard though). 103k with that much autoxing sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

If you're really concerned, teach somebody how to drive a stick on your car. That should eliminate all uncertainty. laugh

Speedometer cable???

Isn't the 95 model year the only one to use a speedometer cable?
All others are VSS/Electric
