I have a 95' V6 contour. It has been running bad only when it is cold. I push the gas to the floor and it just pops and backfires. Then once it starts to warm up(4 or 5 blocks down the road) it runs perfect. It seems to idle fine when cold just once I start to give it gas to move it starts to backfire. I changed the plugs and wires as someone told me to do. This has not solved the problem. Any other suggestions? I don't feel like replacing every sensor and part to find that it was not the problem. Any ideas?

Your problem sounds familar, I have a '95 Mystique 2.5 as well and have the same symptoms. I to have replaced the plugs and wires, the wires were replaced because one was grounding out on the motor. Could it be possible that the coil pack was damaged as a result of the faulty wire? The vehicle seems to run fine (with no missing or jerky hesitation) after a few minutes?? Any suggestions??

I had the same problem. I took it to ford and they had it for 4 days and they found a bad vacum line under the upper intake maifold. Check your vacum lines.

Have you "Cracked" your secondaries? This can lead to that problem during cold weather.
