The ugly kink in the rear cylinder 180 deg bend on the MSDS Y-pipe was just too much for me to take. So I flowed tested it on a Superflow bench, and modified it.
Flow #'s are cfm at 20" H20.

Configuration---------Base-------- Modified
Front Bank tube-------393----------393
Rear Bank tube--------326----------381
Flow delta (%)--------17%----------3%

The modification was to install a 2.0" stamped "donut" as shown. A simple fixture was used to ensure that it will fit on the car the same. Can't wait to try it! I'll try and flow test the stock Y-pipe once I remove it.

Looks like some quality work there. Curious what kind of dyno numbers it would pull.

I see your on your way to making the pipe equal length like the Brullen. Some ones finally catching on. Good work

Nice work. Way to get some flow data, too. However, I'm a little unsure how the flow delta (i.e. the change in flow, correct? ) in the "Base" config has changed 17%. Should I be reading down the columns? What flow changed 17% and what changed 3% ???

Anyway, as long as those welds look nice on the inside of the piping, you've done a nice job!

An idea that seems so simple, you have to wonder why MSDS didn't do it that way to begin with.

Is the Brullen equal length "Y" tubing...OR equal length from exhaust ports to Y?? With the significantly longer elbow shaped front manifold if you mearly matched the length of the 2 Y tubes the total exhaust flow length is clearly not the same. At least the stock and MSDS are pulse tuned..

NICE work on the Y modification..and even better, testing it!

The front bank tube was unchanged, hence the repeat of 393 cfm. The rear bank used to flow 17% less than the front bank due to the ugly kink, but now it is within 3% flow.

Yes - I am surprised that MSDS puts such a HP robbing kink in the Y-pipe, especially since the point of buying headers is to reduce backpressure. I suspect that this is worse that the production Y-pipe (at least for the rear bank.

Very nice, impressive too!

It doesn't look like you lengthened the overall path length of the y-pipe, so the pulses should still be in-line, but you have improved the smoothness of the pipe and radius of the turn. I'm going to save a copy of this picture and the data, thanks.
