hi. i'm new to the forum, and apologize if this sort of thing has been covered already. i came across it looking for info on the wiring for my locks for keyless entry install. my question/problem is this:

when i ordered my keyless entry, if i emailed the info on my car (year, model, etc) to them, they would tell me what wiring set up to use (normal, reverse polarity, etc) and send me the needed relay(s). i did that and they said my car has a reverse polarity set up, and sent along a relay. the wiring "guide" in the manual for the keyless entry looks like this
http://factoredhate.netfirms.com/images/wiring.jpg

and the relay looks (roughly) like this
http://factoredhate.netfirms.com/images/relay.jpg

(copying and pasting of links might be needed)

now, to me, it says that FIRST i need two relays, and second, i have to cut my positive leads on my locks and run them through the relay. but there aren't enough leads on the relay for that. only enough to "splice" them into the pos. leads, right? anyway, point is either one of three things is gonig on.
1). they told me i have the wrong wiring set up.
2). they sent me the wrong relay
or
3). i misread something and have no idea what's going on.

my car is a 1999 Contour. i think once i get that straightened out, i can do the rest. any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance,
Ben

Looks like positive leads is all you need to bother with. The ground wires should be left alone.

I expect you'll need only one relay. In many cars, the system will unlock only the driver's door on the first press & then unlock all doors with the second. In my 1999, all of my doors unlock with the first press of the button (I installed my keyless entry too).

I could have worked it different by hooking up only my driver's door lock to the lock circuit of the keyless entry system, then rigging the main lock wiring to the trunk open lead, thus opening all the other locks on the second press of the button. (hmmm, may do that).

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
