I feel my brake spongy for a long time.
It needs more distance to stop than other cars.

Today I decide to replace front brake pads.
When I took them apart, I found that the thickness
of the 2 pairs of pads are just a little less
than my new ones. So I didn't replace them.

The other problem is when I tried to put a pair
of new pads on, the space is just not enough to
hold the new pads. Even when I put the old ones
back, the space seems still not enough. So I have
to try every means, and finally by a little trick
I put them back. Did you guys ever met this problem when you did this job???? Is it normal??

btw: the brake disc is a little thinner ( 21mm )
less than the specification from Haynes
Manual, does it matter??

Everything seems normal, so what's wrong with
my brake? why it feels spongy???

Soft brakes are usually caused by:
- air in the brake lines
- bad brake master cylinder
- not enough brake fluid
- old brake fluid
- filler cap vent holes are clogged or dirty
- sometimes an incorrect installation of the brake pad spring retaining clip

when replacing the pads, the caliper piston has to be pushed back in...easy way to do it go to auto parts store and buy clamp...as u turn the handle it will push the piston back in so it's flush with the inside of the caliper
