You need to check for a shorted diode, bad DRL relay, or an open ground connection. I trust all the other electrical systems are working properly? Pull the DRL relay and see if the hi beam Ind. goes out.
I don?t jump with my myst. I don?t even carry jumpers anymore, Too much can go wrong.
hope this helps jeff

Thanks guys.
I realized today that I should check the high beams (DOH!), since the high beam light was on erroneously.
Turns out one of high beam bulbs was out. Replaced that and all my problems went away. The light stays out when it should, and the DRLs run too.
Don't know if this is an intended feature or not, or if the Contour is meant to do this, but at least on DRL-equipped cars, the car will tell you if one of the DRLs aren't working, and consequently one of your high beams are not working (by way of high beam light on when it shouldn't be). Cool.

I was just about to post that. I added DRL's to my car and had the same problem. When I put in my Hiper 9005 high beams I guess I didnt put the connector on very well and it came loose. So one day after I purchased the Cuzos, I went to change them out and saw the problem. Havent had any more problems since. So I guess a bad bulb would have given you the same effect.

Used to plow snow at the hospital I used to work at--had a F350 dually with a dedicated jumping system, there was a large socket by the radiator grille into which you plugged the jumper cable. Anyway, one day the tempt. had dropped to about -15°F and we must have jumped 15-20 of the third shifters' cars that morning. The truck had a somewhat complicated dual battery setup and it never was the same after that day... None of the handy guys around the shop could fix it, neither could Ford... Guess I *prefer* not to jump cars, but sometimes you don't have the choice...
Cheers, Jay

I recently had my battery die on me late at night at the airport with no one around to help. I finally got a jump start from a towing company for almost $50 for less than a minute work. I now have purchased one of those portable jump start batteries. No longer do I have to worry about getting a jump start or giving one since I can just use the jump start battery.
