Depends on how much you want to spend. I think JL Audio is the best but they are so expensive.

Kicker's quality has gone down in the years, they are not what they used to be, alot of shops have dropped them because of quality issues. Alpine hits pretty hard and has good quality, as like anything from alpine. So I would go with alpine.
Although like previously stated JL Audio is the best. You could pick up a 10W0 or 12W0 for around 100 bucks on ebay or 119-129 at a shop.
Look into it, they are great efficient subs, and come with factory 2 year warranty....You can beat these subs to the extent and they will last!

If you want my opinion you better go with Kicker, they are specialist in sub woofer fabrication and they got a great reputation, you'll have to put a bit more money but it worth it... i have 2 12" comp VR with 1250 W amp pushing and let me tell you that you can't see anything in the mirrors It' all depending of the set-up you want, wich quality and how much you want to pay! To my opinion Alpine are too comercial, they got good product but that's it, it's not the best qualiy stuff you can get!

I agree. I have two twelve-inch Kicker Comp> 8 ohm in my living room. They are old as hell with urine stains on them from one of the cats back at my parents house(that cat is dead ). But anyways these things still hump. And Kicker's quality has not gone down. Have you heard the solobaric subs? They own any other sub out there, hands down! Go with Kicker. Alpine products are poop. Just my opinion.

I actually think both posts were pretty damn funny. As far as kicker goes, I don't think their quality has gone down so much but the problem is that the competition's quality has gone way up and they have been unable to match them so now they are a bit inferior. Yes, the solobarics are nice subs, but being their top of the line sub, lets compare it to say JL's top of the line, NO COMPARISON!!! while I'm on the topice of Jl audio, lets compare some of their other subs. 10 w1 versus kicker comp. hands down jl. 10w3 version 1 versus kicker vr. You can make an argument here but I personally have 2 10w3's and I think they would wipe the floor with vr's. There are so many other companies you can compare them to and they'll fall short time and time again but I'm tired of typing and just wanted to make a quick point.

Depends on what you're going for... Both will add a foundation to your car and will get things moving... A LOT! But I woulnd't get the Alpines just because your full range speakers are Alpines.
I like JL but the higher lines are pretty pricey. I'd personally get a single Type R 10" sub and run it with a an amp that can put about 200-300 watts to it. Most people that haven't been around subs a whole lot are pretty suprised how much sound a single 10" sub will put out and they don't need tons and tons of power either.
The Kickers aren't bad but I think the sound quality is much likely to be better with the JLs or Alpine Type Rs.
