When my g/f's car started acting really wierd (CEL, fluid lights, no hot air), I figured that the water pump went. I checked in the forum, and the symptoms seem to fit the disease. So I just replaced the pump, with very few problems. All I noticed was that the impeller was not there! It must have be obliterated when she drove over here (she doesn't know much about cars, probably didn't think too much was wrong). In any case, now the pump works, there are no visible leaks, the CEL went off, and it blows hot air.. the only problem is that the thermostat is all the way up to the hottest setting (even before I turn on the engine) and the coolant light is on. Any ideas what this might be? My theory is that she burned her temp sensor. Could it just be a computer problem that might go away soon? Thanks for all the help.

when you change the pump you should have change the termostat since it's right there. The missing water pump parts might be there.

Hmmm.. do I need to uninstall the pump to put in the thermostat? It was kind of a pain in the ass smile
How much is the thermostat?

No, you can change the T-stat w/o removing the pump. I did mine in March....costs about $8.

I was concerned about replacing my waterpump a couple of weeks ago, so I checked out Pep-Boys for the cost of a new one. They had a beautiful Bosch unit for $62.99. Unit had a thick black impeller and looked beefy. I have a 97 GL Sport V6 ATX with 145K miles and I'm still running the original pump. Temp gauge just about always reads just left of the 'N' in Normal. I'm going to keep the original in until necessary. Car is like the Energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going and going.....
