Well today on my way to school my car's check engine light came on, my car lost power and died. I got it towed and took it to the dealer just so they can tell me its not under warranty because of the superchip on it. So they take that off and retest it and the car starts working like normal. Then when i got home i put the chip back on to see if it indeed caused my car to die and it works fine. Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?? I just payed 100 bucks to have them take off the chip and it started working so i was hoping i might figure out what happened at least for my conscience's sake.

Getting ahead of myself already, but the title should be "SUPERCHIP CAUSES CAR TO DIE??"

Common problem. Just ask Iceman22. :p Make sure the PCM contacts are very clean and that the ship is securely fastened. If it loses contact with the PROM port, the car will do exactly what you described.

Make sure the chip is programmed with the CORRECT code. I got a Diablo Chip that had the wrong code in it. It worked fine for ONE DAY. After that the car wouldn't start unless I removed the chip. DiabloSport replaced the chip and I haven't had a single problem since then.

Lesson number one over on www.ford-diesel.com dealt with chips (installation and removal). Lesson number two was that you never, ever, ever let a dealership know that you have a chip in your vehicle because many of them will try and void the warranty. Lesson number three was that if you choose to modify the vehicle, then either find a friendly dealer or be prepared to litigate warranty issues (and even then, you will still have to pay the upfront expense and hope for recovery after going to court). As they say, you gotta pay to play...doesn't matter if it is a small car like a Contique or a behemoth like the PSD (which admittedly can be fun considering it really does not take a whole lot to get them running 1/4mile strip times that are VERY reasonable).
