Ok.

So I just bought my Contour, and even though I had browsed these forums I had no idea about this dash problem.

So after driving around for a few weeks, I noticed the curling/warping but it has curled so evenly that I though thats how it was supposed to look.

Anyway now I am way past the recall. I didnt own the car during the recall and I personally dont want to do the recall kit and install it myself just because its not the best looking deal.

So has anyone else tried alternatives to the factory remedy? Have they worked?

I am thinking about pulling the dash and glueing it down and clamping it. My big concern is that it will rewarp or that it will effect the vinyl and make it worse.

Ok,

I have back tracked and read mulitple pages of peoples complaints etc back when the dash recall was effective still. (8/02)

I still have yet to come across anybody that has a solution other than the recall or even someone that has tried. I am sure people have experienced the problem after the recall.

This much I know.... my local Dealer quoted me Part# 1S2Z-5404282 DA which is the recall dash kit. He told me it retailed at $69.77.

Anyway does anybody know of a particular adhesive that will have no adverse effects on the dashboards?

C'mon someone out that has had to deal with this the old fashioned way right?

I put the kit on mine. I put it on a few months ago, and haven't noticed it warp again yet. I'm very happy with the results.

Make it idiotproof, and they'll make better idiots.
