I don't have many Contour modifications because I am only 17 and have little money. However, I do have a 1997 Contour SE and the Borla exhaust system for the 98 SVT is too expensive for me. I was just wondering if anyone out there has put one of those large "fart can" mufflers on their 2.5 V6. Those mufflers sound pretty good on 4 cylinders but does anyone know how they would sound on a V6? They only cost about 100 - 150 dollars so they are more affordable. I would appreciate any help.

Simon

A friend of mine put one on his tour and it sounds like a 4 cylinder but not as high of pitch. I haven't heard it at a real high rpm yet. But it sounds alright just driving around, even though I wouldn't do it to my tour.

if your just looking for a borla muffler you can probally get one for under $200. actually i know a guy who used an APC muffler on his tour and it actually doesnt sound too bad. im curious how long it will last. once explained to me if your going to do something do it right the first time so you dont have to change anything later. (rule of thumb) good luck!

Try looking in your local area, for guys with SVT's that are looking to get rid of their stock SVT exhaust. I too was in the same boat that you were, and I managed to trade with someone who wanted to go back to stock, I just had to pay for the install of his new exhaust($25). The SVT exhaust sounded great, and it didn't look bad with the non-SVT rear bumber. HTH

Hey man, you don't want a fart can. I had a big massive Magnaflow on my 2.5L and it sounded and looked like crap (even though I thought is sounded and looked cool at the time). Then I got a maganaflow resonator (which wasn't a bad idea at all), which you don't have to get, and then got a dual exhaust made with flowmasters from my local muffler shop (for about $200). I also got to pick whatever tips I wanted and now it sounds like a V8 (of course, I also have an SHO Y-Pipe, Hi-Flow Cat, and KKM induction). The fart can was an extreme waste of money, and pride.

just get a regular looking straight through muffler such as magnaflow or dynomax. there cheaper then the fart cans too and sound better. only thing is you would have to buy a tip for it which might make it the same cost or more then the"fart can" your talking about. whatever you do dont get a fart can. and dont get LED/neon anything ...or an APC sticker.
