Now that my wife has a new car ('02 Hyundai Sonata-love it!) and the Contour's all mine, I've been looking it over for little things to fix as I get to know the car better. One thing I've noticed is that my dealer did a lousy job putting things back together after the two repairs I've had done under recall. The biggest one is that the rear seat is not properly attached to the frame of the car and rattles if someone's not sitting back there. It looks like the metal tab on the seat connects to a hole in the body by a white plastic connector, which needs to be pushed through the hole to lock into place. I've been having a hell of a time trying to do this.

The other problem is that my front console was not reassembled properly. The two lower fastening screws on the sides of the console work themselves loose as the engine vibrates the console, and the buzzing and rattling from the plastic bin under the radio (also loose) is driving me insane. I'd take it back to the dealer and complain, but it's been well over a year since these repairs were done and the warranty on the car has expired. Any suggestions?

If they didn't fix the problem you are able to b**ch about it, you or they should have records that the Tour went in for a certain thing and know these problems have shown up.

The problem with recalls/warranty work is that the dealership doesn't get full payment from Ford on the work they do. So they hurry through trying to get it done so they are done before the booktime tells them to(therefore they get more money).

If you push just right on the corner of the seat, it will go back in. Ive done it a few times, and it is hard, but just mess around with it a little and it will pop back in. Line it up as good as you can then just sit on it. Thats what I did.
