Have searched extensively on the waterpump and are well aware of the issues. One thing I noticed is that not many 99 and 2000's have been mentioned. Maybe this is because they have not clocked the mileage yet? Questions: Anyone with a 99 or 2000 have a pump failure? and at what mileage
The people that have replaced it(any year) with the BMG metal impellar pump, any long term reports or any engine temperature differences?

At some point, Ford switched the OEM pump to the tan (ABS) plastic pump, so the evil black impeller was gone. (Hmmm, they know there is a problem but don't issue a recall because cost is certainly more of a priority than customer satisfaction.) Most of the late model cars probably have the improved pump, so that might explain the lack of problems.

Oh so that's why when I took the WP off the SVT engine I bought to place my Metal one from my SE engine (which replaced the broken one) it was a different color impeller (it was tan), I was wondering about that. dammit, so I could have left it in then! Oh well, better safe then sorry. Anyone need a Water pump...$20????

It might actually have something to with MTX\ATX - with ATX you usually on lower RPM's so you might have less stress on waterpump. I replaced mine just to be on a safe side.

Its seems that 99's and 2000's dont have the record of pump failures that earlier models do.

I have a 96 V6 auto se and my pump went on the two days ago and I had to chnge it on the spot so I ended up putting the same black plastic thing in there. To bad I didn't know about the one with the metal Impeler for the same price I paid. I had 75,550on my tour.
