I have a chip from FordChip.com and they use the diablo
chip. When I go to install the chip, it sticks out farther
than the CPU box and the chip has exposed contact points.
I'm apprehensive to mount the bracket again because I don't want any rubbing against these contacts. Duct tape seems
adequate to cover them up, but I'm just curious what others
have done with their chip installs?

You don't need the bracket. Tape is a good idea.
