Mine did it for a while and then I reset my computer and it stopped for about a month. Just started up yesterday again. Push in the clutch and the rpms would raise from 2500 to 3000 and sit for about 10 sec. Had the fuel pump replaced about 2 wks ago from sputtering under high rpm. I did the th fix using a 3/16" hole and the car runs beautifully now. Hope this helps being that is sounds like the same problem.

I have ESP but the invoice says the parts were 242.38 and if i am not mistaking the pump is located on top of the tank. Was told you can get to it from back seat or trunk.(not sure though, just here say maybe somebody from the forums can help on that).

Fuel pump is definitely on the bottom of the tank.

My car has done this off and on since day 1. It will act up for 2 or 3 days and then it will go away. Probably happens about 2 or 3 times a year. It will not happen in the winter, usually when it is warm and humid outside.

It pi$$es me off, but I guess it is a feature. When it happens I can "idle" at 50 MPH in 5th gear!!!!! eek

Get the injectors flushed professionaly. Most any reputable shop should be able to find the problem for about 1-2 hours labour. Much cheaper and smarter than just swapping everything out. I learned this the hard way with my Impulse!

Actually I found out today that the fuel pump is on the top, you have to fold down the back seat and there is a grommet that you remove, and it gives you access to the pump and sending unit.
