Uhh,

NO, that seems to be a scam to get one or more credit card numbers from you.

I would forward the entire e-mail, headers and all (if you can get headers with AOL's e-mail client) to them, and perhaps the police, FBI, the mattress tag police (ok, maybe not them but you get the idea)

It looked that way, but I figured I'd check it out just to make sure. I use AOL email as my primary address and I get a lot of important mail through there, so I wanted to know for certain what the deal was.

I talked to AOL online and they said it's a hoax and if you get the email to forward it to "TOSReports at aol.com"

Thats a scam alright. Damn this is the most thorough one I've ever seen. They want all your info!!!
I just sent an E-mail to cjb.nwt and I'm about to send another one to tripod and to Yahoo where his E-mail account was set up.

Nobody will do anything about it. A friend of mine got almost the exact same email in March.

He reported it to AOL, and he just got the usual response: "yep it's a hoax, don't give them your info".

Don't fall for emails from AOL.. ever.. AOL WILL NOT SEND YOU EMAILS.

Reasons things like this are always fake

1. AOL's software has an internal billing module, which means.. AOL would never send you to a website when their software has the functionality in it.

2. AOL's site is aol.com ..... ....... not geocities, not cjb, not freeservers, etc..

MSN wouldn't send you a past due notice from an AOL account and vice versa.

3. AOL Doesn't send emails, their software will pop up a window.. this window will bring you to the billing section.

4. Even though they don't send emails, in the event they ever direct something to you.. it will not be as Joe, Mr. Whatever, or Valued Customer. It is ALWAYS in the form of your screen name.

You've got to watch out for those Paypal scams too. It looks all official and says that they need to routinely verify your information. Everything in the email is official and links you to the Paypal site except for the link to update your info, that sends you to POYpal.com

It makes me sad to think of all the dumb people that get their credit cards ripped off.

something like the paypal.com thing happend to bestbuy.com also
