For some reason, my driver side speakers keep going out. Sometimes, if I hit the door hard enough with my hand, they both will come back. But the slightest bump will turn them off. I bought a new speaker harness for the front driver side because I thought it might have something to do with the split in the wire that had been "fixed" by me. So when I replaced it, it worked fine and I drove to school like that. Just 5 minutes ago, they went out again. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I am seriously getting ticked at my car because it is one damn thing after another with my stereo (sorry to complain......). BTW, my speakers are aftermarket.

Just re-check all your connections. It may be grounding out or crossing over somewhere.

How could they be crossed when I used a speaker harness connection from Best Buy? I just connected to the factory wire and then to the speaker. Plus, it has worked fine since December.... something isn't right, and I am about to just take it to a car audio place and tell them to replace all of the damn wires (and install my amplifier, add a MP3 player and satillite radio while they are at it.......)

if your running an aftermarket headunit, check all the connections in the wires behind it. I had problems with my speakers cutting out, turned out to be a double whammy, loos connections on the speaker and loose wires on the wiring harness

I had the same problem. If you take off the door panel, look behind the speaker for ford's yellow box-like wiring harness. Well on my car, the window rolling down would hit the wiring harness and losen the connection to the speaker, I simply removed the harness and rewired the speaker. I could have just tucked the wiring harness underneath something in the door, but i was in there anyway so i decided to get rid of it. It fixed the problem and haven't had any troubles with it for 5 months.

I am still using the factory head unit. And as for the yellow box on the wires, I made up a contraption so that the window does not interfere. However, I just recently did this. Are you saying that the problem could have permently cause a problem? I am not really looking forward to doing my own wiring work. Can I just cut, twist, and use electrical tape? Probably not....
