Does anyone in Atlanta/Duluth area want to make some cash, instead of the dealer?

my car has 93K miles, and its starting to show hesitation on acceleration. I tried fuel injector cleaners to no avail...I got the car with 53K miles, and I have only done oil changes and air filter maintenance, mainly because its been running so smooth and my mileage has been consistently good, so I didnt wanna start a cycle of mechanics messing with my car...The car idles very smooth...

Any ideas if it could just be a need for tune-up ( i feel the fuel filter is the culprit), and if I buy all parts, who wants to give my tour a tuneup...

you can do the fuel filter yourself, takes less than 15 minutes. and you only need a screw driver.

Hey i am in atlanta too...fuel filter is easy go get the spring wrench and the new filter and a haynes manual. Its easy man...

at that mileage spark plugs should also probably be change as well as your wires. A dirty MAF/IAC would more likely cause idle problems. Your intake could be dirty though causing the engine to suffer at higher RPMs.

This belongs on the troubleshooting section....but since you're looking for local help....it can stay!

If I had to guess what your problem is, I'd say spark plugs. When you get on it from a standstill does it buck and jerk? Change the plugs and wires and you should be good as new!

yeah, i will clean the MAF and do the fuel filter first...It doesnt jerk and buckle, the hesitation is somewhat subdued...almost like a misfire...

I guess I better go get that Haynes book...Problem is that I have no tools!

Of course if you are gonna be changing your plugs and wires as MystiqueSVT suggested, which I do agree with, stay with Autolite double platniums, part number APP764. The AP764's like you can get at Wal-Mart, will do but for only about 10-12. Go with the double plats and some good wires and you will be golden.

As for wires, as I always say, "Buy something with a lifetime warrenty and I will bet you the cost difference in the brand that does not have the LTW, you will use it!" You can get Ford Motorsport Wires from Bill at Chicago Connection for about $40 bucks. Check the group buy thread for more info on that.

Ok, I took the car to a mechanic, he said it needs a tune-up basically,,,so I went to Ford across the street and bought plugs, cables, fuel filter, air filter...
Now, I cant find a haynes or Chilton book anywhere,,,,

WHO wants to make some bucks installing this stuff for me maybe tomorrow? and clean the MAF,,,?
I aint that much of a dufus, but i dont have tools really, and dont have the time to waste by being inefficient...
