I've decided I want to paint my grills today. I just took off the rear grill which was no prob but what is the easiest way to get the bottom front grill off? I still haven't decided on what color, it's a tossup between silver or white. Should I apply something before the paint, after the paint, and lastly what kind of paint should I use? sorry for all the questions. BTW I tried searching but all that I was able to find was articles on changing to mesh grills but I simply want to paint mine. All help is much appreciated and i'll be sure to post some pics if I get this done. Thx.

The bottom one is tough to get off, but basically I take the splash guard off from underneath the front bumper and then use a screwdriver to push the clips of the mesh, by poking through the front of the mesh. Then you just have to carefully extricate the mesh out of the bumper.

Once it's out, spray it down good with brake cleaner and let it dry. The apply a bumper primer, followed by the paint of your choice. Carefull though. don't mix paint brands as I have seen some of them react with one another and cause spot to appear all over the piece being painted.

If all else fails, by grills from me!

It's cheaper to go to your local home depot and buy gutter guards and clear coat them then install them instead of painting those plastic grilles.

if you deciede to go with mesh grills, i wouldn't suggest gutter gaurd. it is flimsy and cheap. get them from Stazi, they are pre-cut and fit right up with no modifying!

I decided on painting them because I actually like the way the grills look, just wanted a different color. Here are some pics of the rear grill and the top one in the front. It was raining and there was water going under my car so it was a PITA to be able to work under there and get the bottom one off, so I'll tackle that one another day. What do you think? BTW, the color is silver but appears kinda white in the pics.
