my driver window won't roll up. you can hear the motor trying when the button is pushed, but it seems like it can't grab something. is this a diy'er, or should i take it in? i hate to pay for someone to do it when it may be an easy fix. thx for any help.

It sounds like one of the cables on the window regulator has snapped. When this happened to my car the window was also stuck down. Its not a difficult job for a DIY'er. You have to remove the door panel and glass, but that is easy. Now cost on the other hand...

Is there a grinding sound? If so, it is probably a shot power window regulator. Cost is ~ $125. Takes about 2-3 hours (depending on how automechanically inclined you are).

If it's a window regulator I'm pretty sure I've got one for sale off my old car. Let me know what you think and maybe we can fix it this weekend or something.

This is surely the Windows Regulator. I had the same problem with my window. Take buckshot up on his offer. I paid 50 dollars for my windows regulator and 45 for labor to put it in. Dealer was going to charge me 350 dollars.

well, due to my car sitting outside (not for long though) i had to take it into the dealer today since rain was forecast. the power window switch was bad. total damage was $163. motor was okay thank god. ive heard this can be as high as $250. nonetheless, it works fine now. i was surprised they even had this part on hand. thx

Something doesn't seem right. How could the switch work, but not work?

Could you give us more details about what was wrong with the switch?
