Quick car audio newbie question. As the subject says, I want to simply add tweeters to my stock HU/Speaker setup. Can you just splice in the tweeters w/ x-over to the front speaker wires and off you go? I know there is the whole ohm situation from messing with my home theater. Is the same thing a problem here?

I have mcmaster fake Dynomatted the f/r doors and I am quite happy with that improvement, I just want a little better high freq.

Thx

Sure, done that many times. Just get an efficient tweeter, because your deck doesnt put out much power.

I did that before I bought at new deck. It'll be a night and day difference even with fairly low priced tweeters (obviously better is still better).

i was thinking about doing this too, only diffrence is i have an amp powering my speakers. My only ? will those little inline "bass stoppers" work? If so what heartz range should i get. What would happen if i didnt use a crossover would it just distort the speakers?

The bass blockers would do decently. If you go to Best Buy, the ones you will want are in the install bay. They will be red and will be for tweeters. My recommendation, use the crossover if you can. Use the bass blockers as a REAL LAST RESORT.

Hope that helps some

Thanks for all the replies!

I am going to shoot for tweeters w/ built in crossovers. I remember seeing alot about some of the partsexpress.com models from searching. Also www.electronicsemall.com has great prices on Pioneer stuff. They have some tweeters there I may look at. I have ordered from them a few times.
