I ask on behalf of my wife:
How many active car clubs are there in Detroit, how many meet on Belle Isle, and of those how often?
She's involved in an international project on Shrinking Cities.

Thanks everyone!

It seems to me, the amount of car clubs has been on a steady decline around the metro detroit area. A few years ago, I would see nothing but 7th heaven cars/trucks and all those other ghetto cars with a old english script car club banners. over the last year or so, ive been a big decrease in car clubs. maybe its just me, but thats just my observation.

ditto..

I rarely see many car clubs around anymore. It seemed like every beater in the world had a club sticker on the back window at one time.

Yeah I agree, the CEG IS our car club. We don't need any old english lettering since were an enthusist club, so were not the "typical" club you see out there. As far as how many people came out to the "Island", well its not fair to gauge the turnout because the weather sucked I will say this though, the next time we go out to the "Island", we'll have a much better turnout, if the weather permits. Personally the spot I picked out is not only easy to find but is very visible to those out there for the day, which means more people get to check out our rides, BS with us and generally have a good time with everyone We had a couple stop by and either talk to us or just drive by and check our rides and we only had 5 cars there, imagine if everyone shows up In closing it was also discussed about people not coming to the "Island" because its in Detroit, downtown Detroit and all I can say about this is, if its true...IGNORANT

Nobody said it wasn't.

I'm asking about activity in all kinds of clubs - it's one of the things that this group is using to report on the vitality of different cities.
What beyondloaded said is the kind of thing they're interested in.

I am in a car club. The last 2 years car clubs have been falling off. Its mainly because most of the members lease there cars, and when the lease is up they get something else. It happened to a few of our members. Most said they would like to have another tour/stique, but they wanted a new car. You can usually find most of the car club/truck clubs on belle isle on friday, saturday, and sunday evenings. Most of the clubs don't have meetings on belle isle, but most park and show off thier veh's on the isle. If you need more info PM me.

I disagree with beyondloaded. I think there are just as many car clubs if not more than there ever was. Seems like everyone has a car club these days. Trapps would be someone who could provide valuable info on this issue.

Active Performance

Redline Motorsport

Xceedspeed

Project A-Spec

Ballistek

Force Fed Detroit

Modamax

M1

Top Notch

Apex Factor

These are most of the clubs who focus on sport compact cars in the south-east Michigan region. I don't know of any that meet regularly on Belle Isle.

Don't forget "32 Mile Playaz" No crap about the name - a bunch of Richmond wiggers right there!

There a rash of ghetto-arse wigger car clubs in Macomb County.

I just shake my head at these retards.

Most of them drive Ford Explorers or stock Chevy Prism's with windshield washer LED's as their major "mod".
T3h Gh3y!

Other gh3y-wigger notables are:
