Tom is trying to throw them off...."Yeah it's a 2.5 naturally aspirated".

He just needs to add a "Smog Pump" sticker to the top of the turbo casing and he's set.

Yeah I understand that they will be quite different on/off boost. However, this is what I have done so far and the numbers do have some meaning though they may not truly indicate what will happen at full boost. If this follows newtonian cooling then I can say that when the temp difference is even higher, then it will cool a lot better. At least I can say the intercooler is actually working from just from these simple tests and the two measurments when the car was under boost. Of course I need to get the damn thermocouple mounted and take a ride to determine real efficiency. Initially I won't be able to do any accurate measurements since I don't want to cut a hole in anything else right now until I figure out a good permanent way to measure temp. I'm looking for a good round 52mm gauge that will indicate air temp and I can hook it up to the intake.
Anyone recommend a good one?

Oddly enough the IAT SENSOR... Crazy as that may seem...

BTW the temp is redundant after IAT - Intake Air (charge) Temperature

Maybe this weekend I'll get some video of it at the track. The blow-off valve doesn't make much noise at all. I guess its because I have the boost pressure so low that it doesn't pop like I wanted it to. Maybe when the boost gets raised. Right now it just makes a cool sounding 'whoosh' noise.

BTW: Long-term driveability update.

On the way back to TX, I had a CEL, but that turned out to be a little too much fuel at cruise. Instead of sending the chip back for recalibration, I just leaned out the light throttle positions with my emanage and the light is gone. Long term and short term fuel trims are now right where they should be and of course I left the WOT settings alone.

Fuel mileage was as follows:
26.5 MPG at 80 MPH (mostly the speed we drove, very consistent. 2 children, 2 adults, 150# luggage)
25 MPG at 85 MPH I did this over a 100-125 mile test between gas stations.
24.5 MPG at 90 MPH, about a 100 mile test distance.

I was very satisfied with the performance of the engine vs. the fuel economy. However, step on the gas too much and you can watch the fuel gauge sucking down!

Torsen: Well, it feels much better at moderate accel through the turns, but I can still rip the wheels loose pretty easily in 1st&2nd. Straight line is definitely better, less slip off the line as both wheels are guaranteed to be turning.
Spec3: Can you say instant grip??
It slips better when cold, just like a normal feeling clutch, very smooth yet still grippy. However, when it heats up, Watch OUT! It is a bit grabby if you try to slip the clutch on take-off. I find it easier just to engage it quickly and take-off harder, otherwise it may shudder a little bit as it grabs.
Verdict: I like it, but its not for everyone. Feels great cold, extra grip when hot. Ideal for track use as your stock clutch works the opposite, great cold but slips hot.
Tires:
Tires are holding up remarkably well, I recommend these Falken Ziex 512's to anyone. They feel equal in performance to the BFG Gforce tires and they have the same traction and speed ratings. Treadware is at least 300 as well. Price for 215-45R17's was about $95-$100 each!

Thats about all I have for now.

Tom

lol
You crack me up. Yes, its with the IAT sensor and the OBD scanner. I will try to insert a thermocouple in the turbo area so I can measure the differential temp under load. Then Rara can have his better data! (me too of course)
