I have a friend who just got a dented hood on her Dodge Avenger. The hood is dented where 1 of the creases is located. It is dented in about 1/2 inch, but it is definitely noticeable.

Worse case, how much will this cost to fix?
Should I call junk yard to ask for estimate or can it be knocked back into place from under the hood???

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!

You will have to look under the hood to see if the person could access it. If there is a frame underneath it, the dent will be very hard to do PDR on. But I would check with a PDR specialist and see what they can do. If a PDR dude can do it, probably less than 40 bucks(or around depends on how the dent is and the PDR dude), but if he cant, you would probably have to get it filled by a body shop. Then i dont know the price.

pdr stands for paintless dent removal. a dent tech comes to my lot and removes small dents and dings from all of my cars. no painting is involved if it just a dent. they work the dent out with spoon shaped tools and pointed tools. they remove the dents from the back side of the body panel. these people are amazing. if they can get to the back of the dent, they can get it out. great for walmart dents.try this before you do anything else. call your local used car dealer to get a recomendation of who to use. expect to pay around 75 bucks laugh

I have a few hood/front quarter panel dents. Got a phone price quote from a PDR guy the other day, but I probably won't spend the money to fix 'em.

He quoted me 75 bucks for the first dent on each vehicle, then 10 bucks for each additional dent on the same vehicle.

I saw a TV ad for a do-it-yourself PDR kit the other day. Forgot to write down the number. I think it was about 40 bucks. Have no idea how well it works. Sorry I don't have the number.

If the metal is creased it will need smoothing and filler.

Most new hoods have a seperate top layer (skin) that can be reaplced seperately from the frame. This damage does not sound substancial enough to warrant that.

Any body work on a hood will require the entire hood to be painted. Flat surface areas can not be touched up without showing.

Do they still use dry ice to pop dents? I have never seen it done, but I hear that it works, though I don't know how. My car had MUCHO hail damage, and that's how the dealer told me they fixed most of them. They did have to replace the hood though.

Ok, the girl that owns the car said it would cost $170 to fix the dent (roughly the size of a fist dented into a crease) of Dodge Avenger.

That's not including paint, but she said she's going to get it painted anyways.

Is there a cheap place to find used or after-market hoods???

Does $170 sound too much???
