Well if you feel it in the pedal as well as in the steering wheel, then it's warped, and no amount of re-tightning will help that out. Wait until it cools down (the rotor), then take your wheel off and feel the surface of the rotor. You'll be able to feel any ridges/unbalanced places.

Last time the front tires were replaced the installers didn't tighten the locking lugs with the impact gun. Immediately the brakes felt 'square'. Using a manual torque wrench fixed the problem, before any harm was done.

Mine were out of round on my `tour. It drove me nuts trying to find it too. One night, just out of curiousity I lightly applied the e-brake just enough to make the car start to decelerate. There was my vibration. A new set of drums and the problem was gone. It also got rid of the unsightly rust problem the originals had. laugh

Also not a bad idea to have new (cheaper) rotors checked for unevenness (is that a word?) prior to install. Had a problem w/ this & had the rotors turned (.007 out of tolerance)....No problem any more, just good braking!

Is the smoke alarm in your house also known as the "dinner bell"?
