I've got a stock '98 Contour Sport with, I believe, 170bhp. I installed the K&N high-flow air filter but want more power from the motor.
Is the Superchip worth the price? Would a dual exhaust help, and if so, any ideas where I can find a reasonable dual exhaust and headers in the U.S.?
I wrote to S&P Motorsports and they said that the stock Contour Sport's transmission could not handle a turbocharger, aside fromthe fact that I have an automatic vs. manual transmission.
Any ideas on how to get more power from the 2.5L Durated V6?

My recommendations would definitely be: dual exhaust - Several people on the forums have done dual exhaust so just do a search in this forum. SVT induction pieces: cams, throttle body, MAF sensor Superchip These will probably put you over the SVT horsepower rating.
I raced Iceman who had the SE with five speed and SVT throttle body and chip and he continually ran at least 0.2 seconds faster than my SVT at the track. Good luck!

1. Not a bad idea if you can do you own work. Otherwise it would be very expensive to have a shop build you a mandrel bent setup.
2. UIM, LIM, & TB are great ideas.
The cams are a great upgrade but unless you find a used set (rare!) the price is ridiculous. Also istallation with the engine inthe car is near impossible.
The MAF sensor is the same size.
These will not get you that close to the 200 HP rating. DEFINITELY not over it!
3. Practice and check you car out for problems!!! There is no way he should have beat you or actually been even close.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check into the groupbuy area for dual exhaust and get the superchip. I'll let you know how things go!

Did you install a K&N panel filter?
