This is BAAAD i need help please. I'm having timing problems with my 98 contour. Friday I'm taking it in for an engine flush! BUT recently I've had another problem that is getting worse by the day, right around 55mph the car like studders when you're accelerating! If I let up on the gas and re-hit the pedal it goes just fine! Am I looking at a fuel filter problem or a fuel pump problem? Its constant at 55-60 mph, and is getting worse. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

see da speech therapist. oo and about u'r car trouble, sounds like u'r not getting enuff gas or not combusting it good (duh), i suggest nawwws as the simple fix to any car trouble.

The duh part was a little rude. Like I'm supposed to know this stuff! I can't even check my own transmission fluid!

lmao. the duh was like what i was saying is stupid. cuz it all was. nawws is nitrous oxide and will not fix a thing other than slow acceleration. change your fuel filter, air filter, and run some good injector cleaner (and use good gas such as chevron, wal-mart gas contrary to what i thought would happen seriously made my car run bad) through. if that doesn't fix it, take it to a shop since you don't even know how to check your tranny fluid.

o.k. thank you. BTW I do know how to check the tranny fluid, I was just trying to say I'm not a mechanic, and just about the only thing I CAN do myself is check the oil, tranny, and windshield washer fluids! Oh I can also change my own lights too!

Untill you get the timing belt/VCT problem taken care of, you may be in for plenty more 'stuttering'. If the engine oil flush makes the stuttering worse, you could try unplugging the VCT solenoid connector on top of the valve cover till you get the timing corrected. This will give a CEL, but then you already have one.

I'm having the same problem. Would the plugs going only cause that problem when you stomp on the gas or would it give trouble at Idle as well?

more demand on plugs under load, so yeah could be the plugs and unoticeable during idle. notice could though. just change everything that is easily changeable (that's what i did w/i first month of owning the car) and it makes things easier to diagnose and makes car run better.
