Hi Guys!

The cover on my 98 Mystique's steering wheel is loose enough that it rattles over not-smooth roads. I have never taken the thing off as there is an air bag beneath it and I might set it off. The 3rd party manual I have really doesn't explain it well (as is usual).

How do I get the plastic cover off without blowing up the air bag (and myself in the process)and is it an easy thing to do. I was hoping to find the cause of the loose condition as well as verify that an air bag is actually still there ( a used car).

Don't gotta take anything off.
With a T-25 (IIRC) torx driver, reach behind the edges of the cover. There are two recessed screws, one on each side. tighten 'em up and your rattle is gone.

Don't forget that you have to turn the wheel slightly to the left and right a little to access each of the screw holes.
