Forget it!

Ram-Air, like you see on Ponticraps is a bunch of hooey. Unless you're doing excess of 120mph the pressure increase is insignificant.

Plus piping air straight into an open end filter on our MAF's will cause you to stall while coasting as it creates a ton of turbulence in the filter and confuses the MAF.

Hey demon, how many times have we answered this question???

it has been tried before but because of the MAF it is a troublsome mod that is unreliable.

sorry about asking an asked question. i've looked for it on the forum, and it hasnt been asked... maybe its in the archives. anyways ive only been posting here for about a week, it was just a thought i had.

My friend was nagging me about how ram-air is the best idea for an intake. I was actually going to do it, but im glad you guys stopped me from making that mistake.

Hey NorMich99SE I used to live in TC. Anyway, animals like to get in there and chew things because of the road salt that gets on everything. Keep the underhood area clean. I used to have problems with a porcupine getting in there and chewing my hoses and belts because they tasted salty. Also try putting a single moth ball under there, animals hate the smell.

Hey, I like the mothball idea. Some field mice got into the cabin air filter on my SE and chewed the crap out of it. Thank goodness there's a metal grill between it and the HVAC intake!! Besides, it'd give the inside of the car a nice, fresh, stored clothing aroma

Phil,

I bought my SVT new in Feb '99 and within a week replaced the stock air filter w/ the K&N drop in. I didn't notice any increase in throttle response, although I was still getting used to the car so if it was there it was mild.
If you go with an open element K&N filter you will get the 'smidge of throttle response' (what is a smidge?) you spoke of.
I have open element filters on both of my cars and installed one on my girlfriend's explorer, increased throttle response in all three cases. You may see two 'smidges' of increase at WOT!
