Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General Troubleshooting CEL tonight ARRGGH! Help

I punched out at work today thinking about nothing but Spring Zing! I'm getting on the highway and the CEL comes on! CRAP! I have no idea what's up. Car's been running great! I detailed the engine bay 4 days ago and changed the serp belt yesterday other than that I'm clueless. Any help would be great! Should I worry? Can I make it to SZ without a major problem? It's a 99 SE 68000 miles.

Don't sweat it, a CEL doesn't mean your engine is going to explode tonight. As long as you don't have driveability problems it's not a big deal to drive on it for a day or two.

I'll have my laptop when I get there Friday, and I am sure I am not the only one, so somebody will be able to scan that code for you.

Your my hero PA! Any help you can give would be great! I was so pissed because I have been looking forward to SZ and didn't want anything to wreck it. I'm a single dad with three kids. I have grandma watching them for 5 days and was looking forward to having fun with my car not fixing it! Again Thanks!

Try disconnecting your battery for 5-10 min., reconnect, then see if the CEL comes back on. My tour threw a CEL when the seal on the fuel cap wasn't just right...replaced the cap and haven't had a problem since!

Its prob not a big prob, i wouldnt even sweat it for a while. Most likely its a sensor thats dirty. run the computer on it too see what the prob is.most likely its something to do with the emisions.
