I searched archives in several of the forums but found nothing on this topic:

Has anybody tried aftermarket spark plugs such as the Splitfire series on their Contour V-6? If yes, did they help, hinder, or make not a heap of a difference in performance?

I'm getting ready to do the 100,000 mile maintenance and was thinking of trying Splitfires but figured I'd check here first.

Stick with the autolite double plats or motorcraft double plats. Any other spark plug will not be up for the challenge. The double plats are by far the best choice for the 2.5L

Before I knew of the wonder that is CEG, I put Splitfires in my SE last summer on someone's recommendation. They ran great for a couple months, and then I started having bucking and hesitation in high RPM's. I replaced them with double-platinum Autolites (APP-764) and the car has run perfectly ever since.

Hey gang,

Thanks for the "heads up" on Splitfire-type spark plugs. I pretty much figured that sticking with the Autolites is the way to go but wanted to check around first.

Exactly!

They also fail quickly. (I.E. poorly made snake oil)
