because they look better with a bigger rim, the usually are a wider size tire too giving you more grip, also you can't really fit a 70 sidewall on your car with a 17" rim...

so thats why, ok.

If you increase your wheel size then lower pro tires are necessary in order to keep you speedo accurate. There's also the issue of fitting the tire in you wheel well, if the tire is too big you'll get scraping and rubbing.

Plus they look better and provide better handling imo.

Yes there are is an advantage, it has to do with the weight of your car and give in the side wall of the tires and roll of your car... it's all phisics... the less sidewall in your tire the less it will have to give... so your car wont sway and your tires won't have as much of a chance to lift off the ground on one side...

Now it's the opposite for Drag racing cars... they have HUGE sidewalls in there tires, that's because they don't care about it the car handeling well they won't quick off the line speeds and for the tires to stick to the ground it a forward motion better.

I just think of it like this... no sidewall .. better handeling ... big sidewall better acceleration

hope that helps
