David Jeffries died after a losing control of his TAS Suzuki GSXR-1000. It is believed ( but not confirmed ) that there was oil on the course that was sprayed by another bike.
Jeffries has set many records at the Isle of Mann in several classes of bikes including the fast laptime ever on the ~37 mile course.
That Isle of Man is a sick race! Don't they average one death a year? For anybody that hasn't seen it, you have absolutely no idea what you're missing.

I know Collin Edwards was the Grand Marshall last year, and did a little publicity lap...and he thought that the riders that do the race are crazy. He recognized just how unsafe the race is. I think Jeffries and Joey Dunlops death shows that the race needs to be scrapped. Maybe more of an 8 hours formula or something...
I would agree. People die skydiving; doesn't mean I'm going to stop. People die rock climb; I'll keep climbing. It's a personal choice... But MAN! Are they nuts!!! AVERAGING ~125mph for 37 miles... Yesh!
