As reported in the April 1st issue of Automotive news, the Mondeo may be sold here as a Mercury,if the price is right. Also if there is a market for it.Mercury is trying to hone in on a more youthful target buyer.
Something I didn't know,Ford is going a build a new sedan based on the styling of the Mondeo. The sedan is going to be called the Ford Five Hundred. It will be Duratech powered(3.0 liter)and sport a six speed automatic transmission.Debut date,2004
For you GM fans, the Australian Holden Monaro will be comming to America as the new GTO.LS-1 power and a six speed manual.

so sue the guy for being enthusiastic. Cant you guys ever just read a post without pointing out that the author is like, an hour out of touch with the "contour heartbeat". That kind of crap doesn't happen in other forums. I think it hurts participation.

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.

Which GTO? There were quite a few different versions in the 11 years it was made.

The 1974 was underrated, it was a light body with a 200HP V8 engine. Just that the X bodies were too alike at GM, so it was called a "gussied up Nova".

The '73 was a boat and the 68-72's were way different from the boxy 64-67's.

That Ford Five Hundred sounds like a waste. First off, I personally think 6-speeds are more gimmick than functional unless you need an extreme overdrive or have a very small torque curve. Then making it an ATX?!? Whatever.

I'll stick with the Mazda 6 myself... Zoom Zoom!
